Discover Nepal's Golden Triangle — a legendary journey through three legendary cities — Kathmandu, Chitwan, and Pokhara. In this program from Trek Me Nepal, get ready for a journey where you’ll visit mediaeval temples of forgotten kingdoms, bask in the views of emerald lakes mirroring snow-capped peaks, and go into the wild heart of the jungle with untamed life. This trip calls you to experience the crux of this Himalayan country.

First is Kathmandu, where you’ll experience something like spirituality meets history; the air is as such. Your journey begins in Kathmandu, where every corner tells a story carved in stone sanctified by centuries of devotion. Kathmandu Valley, home to seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites, stands as testament to human creativity and undivided faith.

Stay quiet on a bench for some time and feel the spiritual energy at Pashupatinath Temple, the holiest of shrines. Marvel at the all-seeing eyes of Swayambhunath that watches over the valley from its ancient perch. Wander around the artistic treasures of Bauddhanath Stupa where prayer wheels spin endlessly and the air fills with the gentle hum of mantras. You will also visit the three Durbar Squares of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Patan, that showcase the creative genius of the inhabitants. The intricate pagodas, ornate palaces, and courtyard masterpieces still stand as testaments to the medieval art of this valley.

Next on this trip is Chitwan, where you will dive right into the heart of the wild. As you leave the cultural richness of Kathmandu behind, your adventure takes a turn as you head towards Chitwan National Park. The winding road through challenging terrain is made even more challenging by the ongoing construction at several locations, but once you arrive at the destination, you will begin to feel an adventurer in Nepal's most celebrated wilderness sanctuary.

The dense forests are full of exotic birds, the savannah is hiding magnificent creatures such as the elephant and the rhinoceros, and the occasional roar that reminds you that nature reigns supreme. A peacefully grazing rhino is a sight to behold, and if it’s feeling gracious the elusive tiger might even make a prowl in front of the spectators. Take a glide silently down the river in a canoe, watching ghadiyal crocodiles basking on muddy banks. If you’re into ornithology, you might enjoy watching over five hundred species that call this forest home.

The last leg of this journey is Pokhara, which is quite simply, a serenity by the lake. Despite the challenging mountain roads that connect Chitwan and Pokhara, the tranquil beauty of this lake town will immediately soothe you upon arrival. The serene Phewa Lake acts as nature's perfect mirror, reflecting the towering Annapurna range and the iconic Fishtail peak of Machhapuchhre.

Boat on the lake's calm waters and visit the World Peace Pagoda standing on its hilltop perch — and enjoy beautiful panoramic views that stretch beyond imagination. Explore the mystical Gupteshwar Cave, and witness the power of nature at Devi’s Fall, where gushing jets of water disappear into the earth's depths. But that is not all in Pokhara. The International Mountain Museum tells tales of Himalayan quests, while the vibrant lakeside bazaars offer souvenirs to take back home. Adventure enthusiasts can indulge in paragliding, kayaking, or simply bask on a rooftop savouring the fresh mountain air.

This Golden Triangle program isn't just a tour – it's a transformative journey through the very essence of this remarkable nation. From Kathmandu's cultural and spiritual highlights to Chitwan's jungle safari and Pokhara's serenity, in each destination you can experience something that will forever change your view of the world. Do not let this opportunity slip away. Book your Golden Triangle tour with Trek Me Nepal, and become part of a story that has been unfolding for ages.

Once you arrive at Kathmandu International Airport, you'll be received by our staff and transported to your hotel. After some rest and refreshments, we'll provide you a brief about your upcoming trip. At night you will have a welcome dinner of Nepali cuisine before beginning your epic Nepal tour the following day.

You will leave your hotel early at around 5 AM to 6 AM and go to Kathmandu International Airport. A small plane will take you on an exciting one-hour flight so that you can have close-up aerial views of the mountains of Nepal from the comfort of your seat. Have your camera kit ready. Later when you land at the airport, you will visit the temple of Pashupatinath. You can stay quiet on a bench for some time and feel the spiritual energy in one of the holiest of shrines.

From there, head to Bhaktapur Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its palaces, temples, and mediaeval architecture. Around mid-day you'll have lunch in a Nepali eatery, enjoying a traditional Nepali lunch. Try Dāl-Bhāt, Nepal's staple dish, that includes lentil soup, rice, pickles, and various vegetables. After a hearty lunch, drive to Nagarkot.  This hill station is packed with hotels and resorts - as it is full of tourists who want to have an excellent sunrise view. Check into a hotel for the overnight stay and go to bed early.

We recommend getting up before dawn and driving to the top of Nagarkot. Here, you will have a beautiful sunrise view over the mountains. Take some photos and drive back to the hotel for breakfast. From there, drive to Bauddhanath in Kathmandu. It takes more than an hour to reach Bauddhanath, where you’ll witness the majestic stupa with dense houses encircling this site. Hundreds of pilgrims will be seen circumnavigating the stupa. After spending some time here, you’ll head to Kathmandu Durbar Square, the second of the majestic squares on this trip, where you’ll have your lunch before heading to the hilltop shrine of Swayambhunath. With its abundance of monkeys, this temple is sometimes referred to as ‘The Monkey Temple.’ Drive to Hotel Marriott for dinner and a pleasant overnight stay.

Chitwan National Park is the first national park of Nepal located at a distance of around 170 kilometres from Kathmandu. The drive from Kathmandu takes around five hours on a regular day. However, ongoing construction and expansion on the highway means it might take some additional time. The drive is a picturesque journey along the foothills and the raging Trishuli River. Travelling in a private acclimatised car ensures comfort — enabling you to enjoy scenic views through terraced fields, lush greenery, and winding roads along the river along the Prithvi Highway. Stop at charming viewpoints and cafes at your own pace, making for a memorable and personalised travel experience in Nepal. As the night sets in, you will check into an upscale resort, with a homely atmosphere and luxurious amenities. The vibes of Chitwan will set in, with a touch of a vibrant jungle-life ambience.

Wake up fresh and rested close to the thick jungles of Chitwan, inside the comfort of your room. Begin your leisurely day with a leisurely breakfast. First it's an elephant-safari inside Chitwan National Park, where you have a high chance of spotting the Royal Bengal Tiger, the unique one-horned rhinoceros, and even the elusive leopard — going about their day amid the lush greenery of the savannah. After the thrilling wildlife ride, embark on a scenic canoe ride along Rapti, one of the several rivers in Chitwan. During the canoe ride, you will see the ghadiyal crocodiles.

Lunch will be served in a local Tharu village, after which, you will explore the culture of the native people, and even visit a museum showcasing the lifestyle of the natives. Or if you wish, you can skip this and instead take a guided nature walk to discover the park’s diverse flora and fauna, and connect with Mother Nature. As evening sets in, unwind with a relaxing drink and enjoy the sunset over the tranquil landscape. Dinner will be accompanied by a song and dance performance — making for an unforgettable evening in this natural paradise.

The journey from the forest town of Chitwan to the lake town of Pokhara takes around six hours. However, we will do a brief stopover at the medieval town of Bandipur. We will leave after breakfast in Chitwan and head north along Prithivi Highway. Around midway, we will reach Bandipur for lunch. The cultural and architectural heritage of this hillside town reminds you of the atmosphere of Kathmandu Valley of yore. Bandipur used to be the district headquarters of Tanahun, the home of poet Bhanubhakta. Today, this mediaeval town is known for its well-preserved traditional architecture and pedestrian-friendly streets without the intrusion of vehicles. As we continue towards Pokhara, from several points in the route, we will have views of mountains, rivers, and plains. At Pokhara, check into the hotel and enjoy a Nepali dinner before heading for bed.

The vibrant city of Pokhara is known for its natural beauty and adventure-related activities. Visit the iconic Fewa Lake where you can enjoy a serene boat ride, and explore the nearby Devi’s Falls. Immerse yourself in the geography of the region at the mountain museum. Hike to the serene hilltop of Peace Pagoda and from there, drive to Chhorepatan. Located in the northern part of Pokhara, this village is a hidden gem with a unique blend of natural beauty, culture, and adventure. Surrounded by lush green hills, views of the Annapurna Range are simply breathtaking from here. After a brief refreshment, head back to the cave of Gupteshwar in Pokhara. If time permits and if you decide to seek a bit of thrill, try paragliding or zip-lining, or even mountain biking on the outskirts of Pokhara Valley. End the day with a sumptuous dinner and a warm comfortable bed.

Wake up before dawn and drive to the viewpoint of Sarangkot high above Pokhara just north of Fewa Lake. As the sun rises above the mountains, you will witness a breathtaking panorama of the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Ganesh Himal, and Machhapuchhre ranges bathed in alpenglow. The spectacular beauty of the sunrise shimmering Fewa Lake below creates a magical view. After a few camera clicks and inspiring views, descend back to Pokhara, have breakfast, and head to the airport for a flight to Kathmandu.

Upon arriving in Kathmandu you will immediately notice the vibrant energy of the city — a stark contrast to the peaceful trails you just travelled. During the evening, you may want to explore the old town of Indrachok and do a bit of shopping in the bustling old Asan Bazār where shopkeepers sell impossibly varied things — ranging from copper bottles to vintage khukuri to pashmina shawls and even yak-milk! Later, as we gather for dinner, we will share stories of our unforgettable trip of the past few days. The remarkable trip you undertook this week will be etched in your memories forever.

After breakfast or depending upon your flight schedule we will transfer you to the airport. As your plane takes off from the runway in Kathmandu, your journey to Nepal comes to an end for this time — until you decide to visit again for some memorable trip in the Himalayas.
